  15.      Reads a portable graymap as  input.   Performs  The  Bentley
  16.      Effect, and writes a portable graymap as output.

  18.      The Bentley Effect is described in "Beyond  Photography"  by
  19.      Holzmann,  chapter  4,  photo  4.   It's a vertical smearing
  20.      based on brightness.
